About the Journal

Established in March 2018, the Journal of Food Bioactives (JFB) is an international, peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary Open Access journal dedicated to advancing research on food bioactives and functional foods. As of June 2026, the journal has published 34 issues.

The journal is led by Professor Fereidoon Shahidi, University Research Professor and Distinguished Scholar at Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada, and is supported by an internationally distinguished Editorial Board comprising leading scientists from universities and research institutions worldwide.

JFB publishes original research, reviews, and perspectives on the chemistry, biological activities, mechanisms of action, bioavailability, processing, and applications of bioactive compounds derived from foods and natural sources. By fostering interdisciplinary research spanning food science, nutrition, medicine, pharmacology, and health sciences, the journal serves as a global platform for advancing innovation in functional foods and food bioactives.
